Service Components: co-ordinating elements of a service supply chain

Where services delivered by the client organisation, either internally or to its customers, are comprised of elements delivered by more than one supplier (internal or external), a supply chain exists for the service.   Responsibilities and processes within the Client organisation need to be clear for managing the elements of that chain to ensure delivery of the meta-service.  Relationship between hierarchical SLAs needs to be understood and consistent.  Example: capacity plans need to be consistent across the supply chain or the overall service will fail at the weakest point.  There is no point in staffing plans being implemented to manage higher demand if the dependent IT infrastructure will not cope.
